Short, and in plain language. This is a portfolio site, not a storefront, so there isn't much to agree to.

Who you're dealing with
This site is published by R. Douglas Raggett under the name Byte Communications. Byte Communications is a trade name, not a company — there is no corporation, partnership, or LLC behind it. Where these terms say “I” or “me,” that means R. Douglas Raggett.
What this site is
It's a record of work I've built, and a way to reach me. Nothing here is an offer to provide services, a quote, or a promise of availability, and using the site or sending a message doesn't create a working relationship between us. If we ever do work together, the terms of that will be agreed separately and in writing.
The site itself
The design, text, code, and layout of bytecommunications.net belong to me, except for third-party components used under their own licences — including the Fraunces, IBM Plex Mono, and Inter typefaces, which are used under the SIL Open Font License.
You're welcome to read it, link to it, quote a reasonable amount with attribution, and view the source in your browser. Please don't copy the site wholesale, republish it, or pass it off as your own.
The work shown
The projects in the portfolio are shown as examples of work, which is ordinary practice for a portfolio. Where a project was built for someone else, that site and its content belong to its owner, not to me, and nothing here claims otherwise.
Product names, logos, and brands referenced anywhere on this site or in the projects shown belong to their respective owners. Referring to a company or product is not a claim of affiliation with it, sponsorship by it, or endorsement from it.
Getting in touch
The contact form is for genuine enquiries. Please don't use it for bulk messages, advertising, or anything unlawful. It isn't monitored around the clock, so don't use it for anything urgent — and please don't send confidential material, medical information, or credentials through it. What happens to a message once you send it is covered in the privacy policy.

Links to other websites are there for convenience. I don't control them, and I'm not responsible for their content, their accuracy, or how they handle your data.
No warranty
This site is provided as it is. I try to keep it accurate and available, but I can't promise it will always be online, error-free, or up to date. Descriptions of past work reflect how things stood at the time and may since have changed.
Liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, I'm not liable for any loss arising from your use of this site or from anything you rely on here. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to its conflict of law rules. If you're a consumer resident elsewhere, you keep the benefit of any mandatory protections of your local law.
Changes
I may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top of this page will change when I do, and the current version is always the one published here.
